Trichet urges rules-based approach to excessive deficit reforms
Jean-Claude Trichet, the president of the European Central Bank (ECB), on Friday said euro-area finance ministers should enforce strict rules in its debt prevention framework.
At a conference in Frankfurt, Germany, Trichet said: "More automatic and speedy procedures, a broader range of enforcement tools and more ambitious policy requirements are all urgently required at euro area level. But these will not be sufficient if they are not solidly anchored at national level: the gap between the EU
