Iceland at economic crossroads: Guðmundsson

Már Guðmundsson, the governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, said Iceland is at an economic crossroads in a speech published last Thursday.

In the speech, given to the Iceland Chamber of Commerce in early November, Guðmundsson said: "External imbalances have vanished. The staggering current account deficit from the upswing years has turned into a sizeable underlying surplus, which excludes interest that has been accrued by the estates of the failed banks but will only be paid in part".
