Korea’s Kim says volatile capital flows can be suppressed

Kim Choong-soo, the governor of the Bank of Korea, on Wednesday discussed solutions to problems stemming from volatile capital flows in Korea.

At a seminar at the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea, Kim said: "In boom periods, large-scale capital inflows can trigger internal imbalances by driving inflation up and increasing asset prices. At the same time they can cause or worsen external imbalances as well, for example, by widening a current account deficit through currency appreciation
