Inflation targeting survived crisis test: Norway’s Qvigstad

Inflation targeting seems to have survived the test presented by the global financial crisis, Jan Qvigstad, the deputy governor of the Norges Bank, said on Friday.

"In my view, increased transparency and the efforts made to improve the communication of monetary policy to the general public have been very valuable," Qvigstad said.

Norges Bank is among a handful of central banks that produces explicit interest rate forecasts, which were introduced in 2005. Qvigstad said this had further improved
