Bernanke supports greater macroprudential focus in regulation

Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, on Wednesday said regulators must put more emphasis on macroprudential supervision following recommendations on financial regulatory reform made by the Squam Lake Group, an independent group of academics.

Bernanke identified two core area in the report which he said would guide the country in strengthening the financial system and its oversight.
