Elderfield: bank recapitalisation costs manageable

Matthew Elderfield, the head of financial regulation at the Central Bank of Ireland, on Wednesday calmed public fears over a growing debt burden by indicating the bill for recapitalizing Ireland's banking sector was manageable.

In his address as the Financial Services Ireland Annual Conference 2010, Elderfield maintained that while there were significant costs associated with providing capital to Ireland's largest banks the costs would be spread out over time and managed appropriately.
