One credit register for Europe: Buba’s Zeitler

A European credit register could serve as a substitute for cross-border supervision, said Franz-Christoph Zeitler, the vice-president of the Bundesbank.

Zeitler said seven European states already shared their credit registers with other countries and others were welcome to join. He also said political will was lacking at the international level to create such an international risk map.

Zeitler also said liquidity supervision should be the responsibility of the home country and not only the host
