Croatia’s Vujcic deputy on “unorthodox” regulation

Boris Vujcic, the deputy governor of the Croatian National Bank, discussed the "unorthodox" policies of the central bank, given the euro's dominance in capital flows and the domestic banking sector.

Vujcic pointed out that the Croatian authorities insisted that banks had to build up liquidity buffers in both domestic and foreign currency.

The buffers, the deputy governor pointed out, had since been drawn on extensively by the banks in the post-Lehman Brothers environment.
