IMF's Lipsky: regulatory change needed

All systemic US financial intermediaries should be put under one single regulator, said John Lipsky, the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund.

He said that it is desirable that differences in regulatory structures be eliminated as much as possible. He also sad that Basel II standards need to be made more robust in adding additional measures for risks related to structured instruments, off-balance sheet vehicles and contingent liquidity risks.

He further added that
