IMF's Kato: speed up governance reform
The International Monetary Fund should accelerate reform of its governance structure to better reflect global realities, said Takatoshi Kato, a deputy managing director of the Fund.
Kato also said that the Fund should provide candid and even-handed independent surveillance, including the monitoring of fiscal and financial-policy implementation of member countries and that it should continue efforts to reform its lending facilities.
He made the comments on 12 May.
