Ghana's Acquah emphasises role of social contract

To ensure the safety and security of the financial system, officials must re-commit to the tenets of the unwritten compact that are essential to maintain the confidence and trust of the public, Paul Acquah, the governor of the Bank of Ghana, has said.

Acquah then listed four tenets:

· A prudent lending system in which banks are innovative, take initiative without excessive risks out of proportion to their risk-adjusted capital, and bring full transparency and disclosure to their lending
