France's Noyer: keep your supervisors close

This crisis has showed the merits of having the banking supervisors close to the central bank, said Christian Noyer, the governor of Banque de France.

Noyer said that France's system, where the Banking Commission is situated within the central bank, proved very useful as it allowed for an in-depth knowledge of the banking sector and the various financial institutions.
