Bank of Italy issues latest economic bulletin
Non-performing loan ratios improving at five largest banking groups, central bank argues
Italy's central bank issued its fourth and final economic bulletin for 2016 on October 14.
The bulletin argues that the "improvement in the economic outlook" has continued to have a favourable impact on the quality of Italian banks' loan portfolios. Ratios of non-performing loans (NPLs) were still high, the bulletin noted, but had fallen for the five largest banking groups from 17.9% in the second quarter from 17.4% in the first. Furthermore, most of the NPLS were "concentrated at sound credit
