Despite the prospects for Christchurch appearing positive in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake, uncertainty surrounding the rebuild remains, meaning businesses are reluctant to invest, a working paper published today (February 19) by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand says.

In The Canterbury rebuild five years on from the Christchurch earthquake, Amy Wood, Ilan Noy and Miles Parker discuss the progress made after the 6.3 magnitude earthquake which struck the state in 2011.
