Research published by the Deutsche Bundesbank on July 28 has presented a new model of the financial cycle, which finds the cycle's dynamics vary significantly between countries.

The discussion paper, Characterizing the financial cycle: evidence from a frequency domain analysis by Till Strohsal, Christian Proaño and Jürgen Wolters, diverges from previous research in constructing a straightforward time-series econometric model, rather than using filters or analysing turning points.
