Latest central bank bulletin says ‘classic deflation’ is not on the cards

The Netherlands Bank president Klaas Knot told the Dutch parliament that it is now up to European governments to "kick-start economic growth and stir up inflation", according to the central bank's latest bulletin.

Knot told MPs there was no question of classic deflation in the eurozone – a point the bulletin backs up by citing the stable level of core inflation in the region, which has hovered around its present level of 0.7% for 12 months.

The bulletin goes on to make the point that easy
