Bank of Japan paper studies currencies and commodities

A new Bank of Japan research paper, Changes in the Relationship between Currencies and Commodities, was released today (March 2) by the central bank's financial markets department.

Author Haruko Kato investigates the relationship between so-called commodity currencies and commodity prices in recent years. "Commodity prices have fluctuated significantly during this time period," says the report.

Commodity currencies are those of large commodity exporters such as Australia, Canada, Chile and South
