RBI looks at crisis impact on central banks’ balance sheets

A Reserve Bank of India paper published on 13 October examines the impact of policy actions taken during the crisis on the balance sheets of central banks.

S. M. Lokare, the paper's author, shows that the assets of the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England more than doubled in a matter of weeks after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, a failed investment bank, while the European Central Bank's balance sheet grew by more than 30%.
