Bank of Mexico: prices heterogeneous between sectors

A paper published by the Bank of Mexico in June examines a consumer price index microdata set to characterise the rigidities of the price setting process in the different sectors of the Mexican economy.

The paper studies the dynamics of price changes in several product categories published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, a daily government journal, from July 2002 to December 2009, a period typified by low and stable levels of inflation and only temporary shocks.

Broadly, results show
