UK Households face lending constraints – survey

A diminished appetite for risk, and tightened credit scoring criteria on credit cards and unsecured loans caused a decline in lending to households. However, the situation has improved in the corporate sector, and is expected to continue doing so over next three months, the Bank of England's said in its credit conditions survey for Q3 2009.

Spreads between lending to households and the corporate sector widened further, but are expected to taper over the coming months.

Demand for secured lending
