SNB takes a historical view

The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has issued a new publication in its Historical Time Series, called Banks in Switzerland. This includes both historical data on the country's banking industry, collected by the central bank since it was founded in 1907, plus commentary.

Data are largely banks' balance sheets, and profit and loss statements, as well as information on off-balance sheet business, staff numbers and bank offices. The commentary summarises the main legal requirements which affect the SNB's
