The drawbacks of disinflation policies

Economies enter persistent recessions and inflation heads above the long-run level in the immediate aftermath of a disinflation policy, research published by Banque de France finds.

Using postwar United States data and episode techniques, the research also shows that the standard new Keynesian model fails to account for macroeconomic dynamics in disinflationary times.
