US welfare reform: progress and prospects

On November 17, 2000, academic researchers, government officials, and advocates for the poor met at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to debate the consequences of the 1996 legislative changes in public assistance in the United States. The six papers presented at the conference are scheduled to be published in a future volume of the Bank's Economic Policy Review. Preliminary drafts of the papers are now available on the following link:
