How globalisation impacts rate-setting in India

Despite a relatively low degree of openness, India's domestic monetary conditions are highly influenced by global factors, research published by the International Monetary Fund finds.

The research indicates that India is fast globalising by opening its economy to capital inflows, which have recently surged.

No strong relationship exists between the degree of stability in monetary conditions and the broad monetary policy regime, but the research suggests that improvements in monetary operations
