Olson isn't saying what banks want to hear

FEATURE - Bankers' hopes were high in December when Mark W. Olson was sworn in as a member of the Federal Reserve Board but the American Banker reports, 1 May, that Mr Olson has provided the banking industry with nothing but tough love.

The central bank's board had been without a former banker since 1995, and in Mr. Olson, industry officials felt they would have a strong advocate - even more than in former First Tennessee executive Susan Schmidt Bies, who took her oath at the same time. After all
