Outgoing Duisenberg gets the hump in Dubai

With the IMF and World Bank annual meetings at an end, this article reflects on the Dubai gathering's less formal proceedings. Caviar, foie gras, lobster and belly-dancing were on the menu while Bank of Italy governor Antonio Fazio summed up the after-hours action: "We come here for cocktails, not for discourse". European Central Bank president Wim Duisenberg did the sensible thing, mounting a camel for a ride in the sand.
