Bank of Japan- Tankan Survey (March 2011)

A large number of firms in Japan said business conditions were not very favourable in the first quarter of 2011, the Bank of Japan's Takan survey published on Monday said.

The report, based on respondents' views of business conditions in the three months to March, said 68% of large firms, 64% of medium sized firms and 58% of small firms in the manufacturing sector said business conditions were not so favourable in the three months to March. This compares to just 16% of respondents in
