Bank of Canada – Financial System Review (December 2010)

The Bank of Canada's Financial System Review, published Thursday, said there was cause for concern over persistently high levels of household indebtedness in the country.

While the growth of lending to households despite the crisis was "in part testament to the resilience of Canada's financial system", it was also worrying, the central bank said. "The proportion of households with stretched financial positions that leave them vulnerable to an adverse shock has grown significantly in recent years
