FOMC minutes discuss QE options

Minutes from the 21 September Federal Reserve Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, released on Tuesday, showed rate-setters discussed the possibility of further monetary stimulus in the United States.

The minutes showed that "many participants" thought that if economic growth remained "too slow" to make satisfactory progress toward reducing the unemployment rate, or if inflation continued to drop below levels consistent with the FOMC's dual mandate, it would be "appropriate to provide
