Bank of England – Trends in Lending (July 2010)

The Bank of England's July 2010 Trends in Lending report, published on Tuesday, showed the flow of net lending to UK businesses remained negative in May, dropping more than it did in April.

Official data, covering lending by all UK-resident banks and building societies, indicated that the stock of lending to businesses contracted by £2.3 billion ($ 3.49 billion) in May, more than the reduction in April. The report said muted demand for credit was the reason for the fall in lending. It added that
