Atlanta Fed: Annual Report (2009)

The Atlanta Federal Reserve 2009 Annual Report, published in July, examines how smaller and mid-sized banks in the south-east responded to a series of real estate problems exacerbated by severe job losses, slumping household incomes, and widespread business uncertainty.

The report says that financial and economic challenges in the south-east were magnified by the high concentration of real estate investment in a region that had grown accustomed to strong population and income growth.
