BoE data shows May rise in lending levels
Net lending in the UK rose for a second successive month, but remains well below pre-crisis levels, data published by the Bank of England last Tuesday showed.
According to the report, total net lending to individuals rose by £1.5 billion ($2.27 billion) in May. The twelve-month growth rate increased to 0.9%, from 0.8% for April, but remained well below 2008 growth levels, which averaged 4%. The three-month annualised growth rate was 0.8% in May, a 0.2 percentage point decrease from April.
