Brazilian economy on the up, minutes show
COPOM, the central bank's rate-setting board, decided unanimously to maintain the Selic rate at 8.75%., the minutes of the 20 and 21 October monetary policy committee meetings show.
The minutes note that domestic economic activity continued to improve since the last rate-setting meeting in September. However, the minutes also note that the contractionary effects of the international financial crisis on the domestic economy could become persistent, but not permanent.
