Riksbank rate on hold until next autumn

The Riksbank is to keep its key policy rate, the repo rate, at its current record low of 0.25% until 2010, minutes of the central bank's October meeting reveal.

The minutes also show that Lars Svensson , a deputy governor of the central bank, advocated cutting the repo rate to 0%. He was also in favour of a repo rate path that meant that rate would be kept at this level until the end of the third quarter of 2010.

According to Svensson, such a repo rate path entails a better-balanced monetary
