Euro-area credit standards show signs of easing

The latest Euro Area Bank Lending Survey from the European Central Bank notes that in the third quarter of 2009 the percentage of banks reporting a tightening of credit standards applied to loans and credit lines to enterprises fell significantly to 8%, compared with 21% in the second quarter.

The report notes that the most important driving forces for the net tightening in the euro area continued to be expectations regarding general economic activity and the industry or firm-specific outlook
