Mizuno wanted 25 bp hike

The minutes from the Bank of Japan's monetary policy board July meeting confirm that Atsushi Mizuno wanted to raise the overnight rate from 0.5% to 0.75%.

Stronger-than-expected economic conditions prompted Mizuno to call for a rate hike.

But the eight other members of board voted for a rate hold. Mizuno also voted against the decision to hold rates in August, when he was again the lone dissenter.
