Bank of Mongolia - Annual Report 2006

Mongolia's economy grew by 8.4% in 2006. Inflation stood at 6%, 1 percentage point lower than the 7% limit set by the State Monetary Policy Guideline.

Alagiin Batsukh, the governor of the Bank of Mongolia, said the central bank's goals for 2007 were to:

· provide a sound basis for implementation of inflation-targeting monetary policy;

· further develop and ensure stability of the financial sector;

· form a financial stability committee;

· promote the activities of the financial information
