Minutes highlight Fed's attitude shift

Minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) last rate-setting meeting reveal optimism that the economy could weather turmoil in the money markets.

The minutes of the 7 August meeting said: "Members expected a return to more normal conditions, but recognised that the process likely would take some time."

The minutes note that the FOMC was aware that the problems in the money market would require careful monitoring, but said: "the upside risks to inflation remained the most significant
