ECB - Financial Stability Review June 2009

Most large and complex banking groups operating in the euro area appear to have enough capital to withstand severe but plausible stress scenarios, notes the latest Financial Stability Review from the European Central Bank.

The report notes that this is because capital buffers have been maintained well above the minimum regulatory requirements. The report also notes that the main risks identified within the euro-area financial system include the possibility of a further erosion of capital bases
