Poll investigates banks' transparency

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors, a body set up to advise the European Commission on banking regulation, has surveyed the disclosures of 22 large banks.

The committee analysed the disclosures made by the banks in their preliminary results for the fourth quarter of 2007 and in their audited report for last year.

The findings allowed the committee to identify examples of disclosures which it believes represent good practice and considers to be particularly informative.
