Bahamas makes $200,000 donation in wake of Hurricane Matthew

Central bank contribution made in addition to typical policy responses

The Central Bank of the Bahamas has made a donation of $150,000 to the Bahamas Disaster Relief Fund in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, which swept through the Caribbean earlier in October. A further $50,000 is being donated by the central bank to efforts in Haiti.

"The bank felt that it was important to make this contribution, given the magnitude of the recovery effort ahead of the Bahamas," governor John Rolle said in a statement on October 20.
