Mario Draghi says committees will investigate “smooth implementation” of asset purchases

The European Central Bank has delayed a decision on potential changes to its asset purchase programme as it asks its committees to perform further analysis, president Mario Draghi said today (September 8).

"The Governing Council tasked the relevant committees to evaluate the options that ensure a smooth implementation of our purchase programme," Draghi told a press conference.

The ECB kept policy on hold at today's meeting, with its main refinancing rate at 0% and deposit rate at –0.4%. Monthly
