RBA launches first banknote with edge-to-edge window
Twelve-year project cost the bank $37 million
Australia's new A$5 banknote, the first in the world to feature an edge-to-edge window, launched on September 1.
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has printed 170 million of the notes, on Innovia's ‘Guardian' substrate. They are the first in the "Next Generation" series to be launched, and will now gradually enter circulation.
"The new A$5 banknote has a range of security features that have not previously been used on an Australian banknote and that will help to keep our banknotes secure
