Dudley flags inflation uncertainty and expectations concern

Warns of slide in household expectations and stresses need for ‘close scrutiny’

William Dudley has grown "somewhat less confident" in the outlook for US inflation, as the uncertainty surrounding it has increased and the downside risks have "crept up".

He told an audience in Hangzhou the drop in energy prices and strength of the US dollar have seemingly had a "more persistent depressing influence on inflation than previously anticipated".
