Liberian president’s son becomes acting governor

Acting governor has spent over 10 years at central bank

The new acting head of the Central Bank of Liberia is the one of the sons of the country’s president, a source at the central bank confirmed today (February 19).

Charles Johnson Sirleaf has served for over 10 years in a number of senior positions at the Central Bank of Liberia, and is one of four sons of president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He has been given the title of acting executive governor, the source said.

Most recently, from 2013 to 2016, Sirleaf was deputy governor with responsibility for
