EBA sets out standards for weighing securitisation ratings

Regulators should stick with qualitative approach “in the short term”, authority says

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published its final draft standards setting out how Europe's regulators must judge rating agencies' assessments of financial institutions' securitisation positions.

Regulators must take a "qualitative" approach in the short term, the EBA said, in the Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) draft published on February 15, adding it hopes to formulate a "quantitative" approach in the longer term.
