ECB will 'review and possibly reconsider’ stance in March

Keeps policy rates and asset purchase programme unchanged for now

The European Central Bank (ECB) will "review and possibly reconsider" its monetary policy stance in March, president Mario Draghi said today (January 21), as the governing council kept its rates and asset purchases unchanged.

There were "no limits" to what the ECB would do to achieve its inflation target, Draghi said several times during a press conference. The expected path for annual inflation is now "significantly lower" than in December, when the ECB unveiled new easing measures, he added.
