Carney says UK rate hike still some way off
Continued weakness in key indicators begins to puzzle policy-makers
Key indicators are continuing to disappoint and the time is not yet right to hike rates, Bank of England (BoE) governor Mark Carney told an audience in London today (January 19).
In a nod to a previous and much-quoted speech in which he said the decision on a rate hike would likely "come into sharper relief around the turn of the year", Carney's speech, delivered at Queen Mary University, was titled 'The turn of the year'.
