US delivers strong jobs growth to end 2015

Report shows nonfarm payrolls expanded by 292,000 in in December

A strong jobs report was well received by the market today (January 8), as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a 292,000 increase in non-farm payrolls in December.

The November figure was also revised upwards from 211,000 to 252,000, while October's was bumped from 298,000 to 307,000, reflecting the ongoing strengthening of the US labour market.

As the report was released, the US dollar jumped to 0.925 against the euro, before ticking down to 0.918 as of 16:15pm London time, a 0.31% increase
