ECB survey finds ‘access to finance’ least of eurozone SME problems

Deleveraging by eurozone’s small and medium enterprises continues at slow rate

Finding customers remained the "dominant concern" for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the eurozone between April and September, according to survey results published by the European Central Bank (ECB) today (December 2).

The bi-annual survey sampled 11,266 enterprises between September 21 and October 26, of which 91% had fewer than 250 employees.

A key finding was the decrease in the proportion of SMEs viewing access to finance as the "main impediment" to their business
